    • 5th is Red Shoe Leader.
    • 4 Scenarios we face in any situation. Bully, Hero, Victim, Witness.
    • Diva is bully.
    • Bunny is bully.
    • Groundhog is victim or witness.
    • Eye roller is victim, witness, or bully. Most powerful tool for as feedback in a meeting.
    • All can make their way to hero or Red Shoe Leader.
    • Three levels of anger.
    • Level 3. Jerry Springer level.
    • Level 2 Polite People anywhere.
    • Level one Yoda.
  • Situations?
    • Situation 1. Employee with “this is not my job” mentality.
      • Victim would respond in a negative manner when facing a person with this mind set.
      • Try empathy.
      • Look at own behavior.
    • Situation 2. Pot stirrer. Something they don’t like, then they run to different people to agitate the situation.
      • Why? Looking for attention, insecure. Want the other person to do their job and could be something they care about and they don’t like it the way it’s done. Leaders aren’t listening.
      • Hobby of trouble. leaders are not listening. Sit down and share empathy and try to figure it out.
      • Wrong ways to sit down with them. Wrong way: aggressive, blaming, humiliating, shaming.... empathy and try to understand. Listening strategies... eye contact, facial expression, repeat what they say, follow up, write it down...
      • Acknowledge their point of view. point out what they are feeling and how it aligns with the organization. empower them, validate them, trust, invite them to be a part of the solution or committee....
      • Worst thing to do with a pot stirrer ... ignore them, shame them. Green and gold point of order.... capture the ideas without interruption...
    • Situation 3. Leadership not listening.
      • Not being responsive or not listening.
      • Hearing but no action. lack of communication.
      • Wrong ways to deal with our leader... confrontation, especially in public....gossip... go up the chain... not listening....
    • Red Shoe leader helps leaders lead us better.... Everyone is a leader.
    • Ask the Yoda questions, the Red Shoe leader questions.
      • Why are they acting this way.
      • How did i contribute... leader may think I know more than I do... the leader understands the whole picture... the person with the idea may not...  if it’s the whole picture issue, the leader should explain how it fits into the whole pic as to why the idea is good or not.   How to tell my leader way I don’t like? be honest and direct.
      • Avoid YOU statements. Give them the road map to your excellence. Know yourself. if my supervisor is late and not prepared, what do I say. I feel you are disrespected.
      • Leader can leave so group can talk freely.
    • Leaders all have blind spots. Encourage expression of leadership in a positive way. Constructive.
    • Military leaders… comes down to expectations that are communicated clearly. Implied and written.
    • Can tell boss, “I’m not prepared for that” and that’s okay. Okay if your leader is not prepared for that, too. We all work together to make effective leadership happen. Essential teamwork.
  • RUNNING MEETINGS... lots of solutions. How’s it going? NOT....
    • Dissemination of the information as a result of the meeting... Constipated info at the top. enforce the dissemination of the info. What are leaders NOT doing regarding dissemination. .... not saying this is where we will be... not touching base with updates... be on time.... establish rhythm after branch meetings... even if nothing is significant.... daily, weekly... with updates as-needed... provide feedback... we are all leaders... need to know the problem to fix it... we all have blind spots... can't see everything... provide feedback... positive... inquiry... I'm mad.. lets talk about it...
    • Info dissemination... leaders can spot check with subordinates if they are getting that information...
